The August/September issue of Garden & Gun magazine sings the praises of several Greenville people and places.
Garden & Gun mentions lots to love about Greenville, especially American Grocery Restaurant, where Chef Joe Clarke changes the menu almost daily to take advantage of the local foods available. Other restaurants getting attention are the Bohemian, “a favorite for its leisurely Sunday brunch;” the Lazy Goat for Chef Vicky Moore’s tapas; OJ’s Diner, an above-average meat-and-three at 907 Pendleton St. with great fried chicken and sweet potato cobbler; Smokin’ Stokes for its legendary Cheerwine barbecue sauce; and Soby’s for Chef Shaun Garcia’s contemporary Southern cuisine.
Musician Edwin McCain is also featured, partially for his role in co-founding Euphoria, an annual food, wine and music festival in September.
The article credits Carl Sobocinski, owner of Table 301 and co-founder of Euphoria, with getting Greenville’s bustling downtown food scene started by opening Soby’s in 1997.
