Lodging options in the Upcountry are as varied as the scenery. National hotel brands, locally owned bed-and-breakfast, a cabin in the woods or a yurt all give visitors a great place to rest after a weary day exploring our great region.
After a long day on the Chattooga River, guests at the Wildwater Chattooga Adventure Center in Long Creek can stay in a cozy cabin or opt for a more rustic experience in a yurt. Each yurt comes equipped with bunk beds with mattresses for sleeping, small tables & benches, a ceiling fan, large outside decks with picnic tables, power, lights and small heaters.
For an urban locale, the Swamp Rabbit Inn in downtown Greenville is a family-friendly B&B with modern, animal-themed rooms & a fully stocked kitchen for self-serve meals.
At the Inn on Main in Spartanburg, the circa 1904 Greek Revival home was Spartanburg’s first Bed and Breakfast and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Inn features five rooms and offers a full home-cooked, southern-style breakfast each morning.
Deep in the heart of equestrian country in Landrum is the Red Horse Inn. Voted as a top ten romantic inn by American Historic Inns and one of America’s Most Romantic Hotels by Travel and Leisure, this Victorian-inspired bed and breakfast offers six guest cottages and six inn rooms on the 192-acre property made up of rolling hills, green pastures and spectacular mountain views.
The Cotton Gin Bed and Breakfast in Anderson is located in-you guessed it-a former cotton gin built in the 1820’s. There are only two rooms for rent in this lakeside house and only one is actually in the former cotton gin but if you want a great farm-to-table country breakfast and a night or two in a historic structure-this is your place.
Miles of hiking trails, outdoor activities, swimming, fishing and other amenities make Table Rock State Park a popular destination. Sixteen cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and are on the National Register of Historic Places are available for rent at the 3,083-acre park in Pickens. Cabins comes with heating and air-conditioning, a screen porch and fireplace.
