Welcome to the Fountain Inn History Center!

From the Revoluntionary War-era Battle of Great Cane Break to the entertainment legacy of Clayton "Peg Leg" Bates to journalist Robert Quillen's enduring reputation as "one of the leading purveyors of village nostalgia" in America, the story of Fountain Inn unfolds at the Center as never before.

The Fountain Inn History Center is committed to expanding the public's sense of community through an understanding of the city's history and how it relates to South Carolina history as well as reflective of American society as a whole.

The organization is dedicated to the belief that we can learn from the past in order to better understand the present and the challenges of the future. The general purpose is to collect, preserve, and exhibit objects of value for understanding the history, art, and natural environment of the Fountain Inn area. The Secretary of State of South Carolina certified Fountain Inn Museum Incorporated on August 9, 2006
